The Ivory
This ancient tavern is the gay place to be seen. The atmosphere is lovely, created by smiley staff and the most comfortable sofas in the centre of town. Of course there's the usual camp stuff going down: karaoke, bingo and strippers (last Friday of the month); yet what makes this such a gem is the easy nature of it – everyone is laid back, there are no creepy old male predators waiting to pounce on the unsuspecting young after a few cocktails and there's an impressive, sizeable drinks list to get your lips around.
