Licata's Delicatessen
This family-owned and run food shop is something of an unpolished gem. Don't expect to be invited into the Licata family (the older generation can be a little cold), just get rummaging for delicious bargains. There's an excellent selection of fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, cured Italian meats, cheese and antipasti. Create a perfect picnic with the addition of some freshly baked sun-dried tomato bread, and cheap and cheerful Italian plonk. Handy too for unusual culinary gifts like caper pate, giant penne or some dried bananas (a.k.a 'monkey's willies').
