The Friary Café
A Cotham Hill favourite, this café is a bit of a rarity – students are few among its clientele. This suits the Friary perfectly, as it boasts a down-to-earth atmosphere, dirt-cheap grub, a varied soundtrack and friendly staff who might even sit down with you and have a homemade milkshake. The food is a total grease-fest in the best possible way, but then maybe this isn't your kind of haunt if you mind bits of baked beans on your coffee mug. Expect to see builders nursing their sarnies and gazing longingly out of the windows.
