On a Saturday afternoon it's possible to find a baffling range of Montpelier's bluff workmen, meandering artists and brassick students all nestled together in unlikely harmony around the Bristolian's tables, like some kind of food-inspired utopia. A bizarre hybrid of builders' caff and bohemian hangout, this peculiar eatery might not be the most salubrious, but it certainly doesn't lack character. Tuck into a homemade chilli, fresh fruit milkshake or a greasy fry-up, all served by a girl with a scabby stomach bared for all to see. Lurk in a corner and people watch while you pretend to read the Daily Mail.
