The Royal Oak

Spend long enough in Clifton and it's easy to get sucked into the big student bubble hovering over the area. Not that there's anything wrong with that, you understand, but sometimes you just want to feel a tad more native (even if you happen to be a tax-dodging type yourself). So get yourself to the decidedly local, yet unfailingly welcoming, Royal Oak and all dreams of donning a pashmina and wearing your hair in a messy up-do that took three hours to create will fade away. There are none of your snazzy cocktails at this good solid local, either – more like a pint of Gem Bath ale.
