Entering The Hatchet on your average Friday night is perhaps not for the faint of heart. Yet with its strange blend of quaint Elizabethan architecture and pre-ramshackle goth biker bar atmosphere, there is something weirdly, almost perversely, charming about the place. With its very reasonable prices it's also guaranteed to have you headbanging and issuing a victorious war cry of 'Led Zep rules' before the evening is out; even if you go in there a Cliff Richard fan, they'll soon scare you straight.
