Alma Tavern
'A theatre in a pub, you say?' Yes, we certainly do say. This tiny, 50 seat palace of entertainment is above the Alma Tavern pub and puts on productions by local company Theatre West. There's something deeply wholesome about the whole affair. They let you take a drink in to the performances, and the pub does some great food (better than your average pub grub) if the strain on your heart strings of so much culture leaves you feeling a bit peckish. Productions tend to be pretty good – anything really dire and there's always the option of sneaking back out to the bar.
