Spike Island
After having £2.25 million ploughed into this contemporary visual arts space should be damned spectacular. Reopened last February, it provides studio space to local artists, hosts international resident artists and puts on exhibitions of their work. Tucked away in Cumberland Basin, thiseclectic arts centre offers something a bit different from the
Arnolfini's sometimes wobbly attempts at modern art. Admittedly, the exhibitions aren't consistently mind–blowing, but on the average you're likely to come away impressed, even if only by the spectacular gallery space.
