Royal West of England Academy
This is the place for those of you who think modern art's a load of bison crap and that the muppet who paid £74m for a Jackson Pollock painting was ripped off big time. This beautiful building is stuffed full of traditional paintings, including a wide selection of work by British artists. However, it's not just gubbins from centuries ago – there are some contemporary exhibitions, but don't come here looking for unmade beds, pickled sealife or a grown man who dresses like a cross between Andy Pandy and Bette Davis circa Baby Jane.
