Ten little black dresses that won't break the bank
Feature
It's January and you're skint. Itchy refuses to stay in this month but is having the usual nightmare - we have literally nothing to wear. Well, nothing that we want to be seen in. Time to invest in the January sales with yet another Little Black Dress so that we won't ever have this problem again. Until next month.
H&M - £29.99

With its sweetheart neckline and golden floral pattern, this little beauty is bang on trend, and doesn't cling too tight so is a friend to newly acquired spare tyres.
Topshop £38
www.topshop.com
Long sleeves and block colour make this a more demure choice, for those wishing to look pretty but professional. The lace adds a girlie edge.
New look - £28

We like this dress so much we're leaving early to go and buy it. A simple shape and plain fabric make it easy to dress down and wear again, but the beading keeps it glam.
Warehouse - £45
www.warehouse.co.uk
The waist on this tunic dress gives it a more flattering shape, and the bold print adds interest without being too showy.
Asos - £40
www.asos.com
For those wanted to make a statement with shape this winter this dress is the perfect choice. The puffed sleeves add structure and low v-neck shows off your, er, assets.
Motel - £40
www.asos.com
The pretty beading on this one may make you feel a tad like a bauble, but is a simple enough pattern to be flattering, while still adding a bit of dazzle.
Tesco - £18
www.clothingattesco.com
Bargain buy of the season, this dress looks like it could come from All Saints but costs about a fifth of their usual prices. The great hanky hem gives the dress shape without bulking up your bulky sections.
M&S - £49.50
www.marksandspencer.com
Only just within budget but so worth it – we had to get some sequins in here somewhere. Sequinned thighs are no friend to anyone bigger than Kate Moss, so this is the perfect trade-off.
Zara - £39.99
www.zara.com
The pretty floral top allows you to show a bit of shoulder, or you can take the opportunity to wear a great boyfriend blazer on top.
Oasis - £45
www.oasis-stores.com
The shapes of the eighties have surfaced again, and we're certainly not sad to see shoulder pads. They're all you need to make a plain dress a statement dress, as seen here.
