Clothes Swapping Week
Get a new wardrobe without spending a penny
Feature
Confession time: Itchy is a shopping addict. We've tried budgeting. We've tried cutting up our credit cards. We've even tried putting ourselves under house-arrest in the hope of curbing our spending addiction. But to no avail.
And now with Fashion Week bombing towards us quicker than a shopaholic who's spied a 'Sale' sign, we fear we're going to be dragged back into the seedy underworld of clothing lust all over again.
Unfortunately for Itchy the only way we'd be able to afford this season's newest Chanel pumps or Mulberry handbag would be to rob a bank. And seeing as an orange jumpsuit wouldn't be too flattering we'll not be going down that route just yet. We are, however, always up for a bit of online clothes swapping.
And before you ask, clothes swapping is not some sort of cheeky sex game. Though that sounds fun too.
No, clothes swapping is a rather cunning way of updating your wardrobe. The website – appropriately called wardrobe.com – allows people to offer clothing in exchange for... clothing (and money, but that's not as exciting).
Granted, there's the slight ick factor of not knowing who used to wear your newly acquired togs, but then anyone who has ever bought vintage will understand that this is a price you sometimes have to pay. Plus beggars can't be choosers, and you never know - a bit of clothes swapping may just satisfy your London Fashion Week withdrawal symptoms.
