With a programme almost as obscure as its location (top left off Kings Square, off Stokes Croft), The Cube is the Bristol boho set's cinema/art space/gig venue of choice, serving up a nightly array of left-field music, wild-eyed cabaret and some of the cheapest cinema seats in town (in both senses). The venue is run by a volunteer collective of artists, activists and other kindly souls who oftentimes seem to have little more idea of what's going on than the punters. Ah, we love it so. (0117) 927 5100The Watershed has everything you could want from an arthouse cinema: a lineup that always features the very finest in cutting-edge indie and non-mainstream filmmaking, with a special focus on contemporary European cinema; comfy seats since the extensive refurb; a (packed) bar that serves great food, especially the nachos. And they don't sell popcorn so no bastard can ruin your film by snaffling away like a pig.
