Ice skating in Bristol Read our list of songs to listen to while skating in Bristol. Or just scroll down for a list of Bristol ice skating rinks if you're lazy. There are so many of these open-air ice rinks that crop up in Bristol throughout the festive period that if you want to go ice skating on them all, you're probably going to get bored of plain old ice skating. Enter your mp3 player. With the selection of a few top tunes, trawling your way around Bristol's ice skating rinks can be transformed in no time. Here's Itchy's top five. 1. Ice Ice Baby - The original, and the greatest ice-based tune. As the opening lyric of 'Yo, VIP' plays, prepare to swoosh around in stately manner, as you reflect upon how it feels to be lord of the rinks. Just make sure that if you're not the greatest mover in the world, you heed Vanilla Ice's advice and ensure that someone grabs a hold of you tightly.2. She's The One - Alright, so Robbie Williams' schmaltz fest hasn't really got anything to do with ice skating beyond the video. But really, what other song can you think of that's as famously associated with gracefully gliding around on ice? Excluding Ravel's Bolero, of course. Exactly: there aren't any. And if you listen to Paul McKenna, Derren Brown and other such mind quacks, the power of the mental can drive you on to great heights. Whack this on, and who knows how good you'll be?
3. Cold As Ice - After you've bashed your arse repeatedly against the ice, the chances of you feeling warm and toasty are about as positive as Jeremy Clarkson holding forth on the benefits of bicycles. Which'll make this song very pertinent. Skip the nancy Foreigner original, and go for the braggadocious MOP version, whose rat-a-tat-tat beat should provide the perfect rhythm for your chattering teeth's accompaniment.
4. Break The Ice - Good old Britney. You might be worried about the fact that your lack of ice-based co-ordination's likely to lead to you falling head over arse whilst ice skating, but no matter how badly wrong it goes, a brief listen to this song should remind you that there's no skittering, flailing undignified disaster that could ever hope to come close to Britters' horrific life. Stick it on, and bask in self-confidence.
5. Sk8er Boi - Avril Lavigne's tale of lost love between a ballet dancer and a skater - sorry, sk8er - is an important lesson in what happens if you spurn the company of people who are talented in the art of sk8ing. Stick it on your headphones as you slowly shuffle around the ice, and use it as motivation to grab hold of the nearest talented skatey type, and not let go. After all, it could end in disaster otherwise. Could we make it any more obvious? Where to skate in Bristol Bristol Zoo Gardens
